Kate Llewellyn, M.Ed

Recruitment and Outreach Manager

Kate joined Helping Education as Tutor Operations Manager for HELPS in Charlotte in February 2022. Prior to joining the team, Kate specialized in English education.

In 2017, Kate taught English as a Second Language in Terengganu, Malaysia through the State Department’s distinguished Fulbright program. On her return, Kate completed a M.A. in Education at Wake Forest University, where her research explored best practices for K-12 instruction and assessment during religious fasts. Prior to joining HELPS, Kate taught high school English in the Winston-Salem/ Forsyth County public school system for two years. As a classroom teacher, Kate developed a passion for designing curricula that centered student engagement and exploration. She has taught at the North Carolina Governor’s School since 2019.

Academically, Kate is interested in how thoughtfully-designed educational policies and programs can create systemic change. As Tutor Operations Manager, she is thrilled to observe the positive impact of HELPS tutoring on Charlotte’s young readers on a daily basis.

Kate’s favorite childhood read was Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery. Outside of work, she enjoys running, rest, and recommendations for podcasts.
